Conditions of Entry: 'Renew Borders Preferred Card and Win $1,000' monthly draw
  1. The promoter of this draw is Borders Singapore Pte Ltd of 501 Orchard Road, #01-00 Wheelock Place, Singapore 238880 ("Promoter")
  2. Information on how to enter and prizes forms part of these Conditions of Entry. Entry into the draw is deemed to be an acceptance of these Conditions of Entry.
  3. Entry is open to a renewing Borders Preferred membership applicant upon successful renewal and payment of $20.30 ("Entrant"). Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter, or agencies or companies associated with this promotion, are ineligible to enter.
  4. The promotion starts on the first day of each calendar month and closes on the last day of each calendar month ("Promotional Period").

    5. How to Enter

  5. To enter and be eligible to become a candidate and win a prize in this draw the Entrant must, during the Promotional Period:
    1. Renew Borders Preferred membership before the card's expiry through the website, and
    2. Opt in to receive email and/or mobile marketing communications from the Promoter.
  6. Members who are due for Borders Preferred membership renewal will be contacted in writing (email/letter) and invited to renew and enter into the draw. The Promoter is not responsible for failure of delivery of renewal notice due to incorrect or incomplete email address or mailing address provided at time of application.

    7. Monthly Draw

  7. Each entry will be assigned a unique serial number. Each serial number will be printed individually and all serial numbers collated into a draw box. The Regional Manager of Borders Singapore will draw two unique serial numbers after the end of the monthly draw on the third working day on of the following month. The draw shall be witnessed by an independent third party. The Entrant linked to the first unique serial number drawn will be the winner and the Entrant linked to the second unique serial number drawn will be the reserve winner in the event that the winner fails to claim its prize. The draw will be conducted at Borders Singapore Pte Ltd at 501 Orchard Road, #04-11 Wheelock Place, Singapore 238880 and the winner will be notified by phone and in writing (via email and ordinary post) on the draw date.
  8. The winner will have seven (7) days after the draw date to respond. If the winner fails to respond by the specified deadline, the reserve winner will be notified in the same manner and given seven (7) days to respond. All prizes which are not won or remain unclaimed thirty (30) days after the draw date, or their equivalent value shall be donated to the Community Chest or to such other approved charity.

    9. The Prize

  9. The monthly prize winner will win $1,000 payable by Borders gift cards.
  10. Any tax liability arising, as a result of accepting any of the prizes is the responsibility of the winners.
  11. The Promoter's decision as to the winner is final and no correspondence will be entertained.
  12. All entries are the property of the Promoter. By entering this Promotion, you understand and agree that the Promoter may use and disclose the information provided by you on the terms and for the purpose set out in the Promoter's Privacy Statement available at http://email.borders.com.au/sg/privacy_sg.html. The Promoter may also use, or give its related companies or service providers access to, this information for related marketing purposes (and in particular, email and mobile marketing communications from the Promoter). Each entrant consents to the Promoter using the entrant's personal information to administer the Promotion and announce the finalists and winner and disclosing the entrant's personal information to organisations that assist the Promoter with administering the Promotion and announcing the finalists and winner, and to third parties as required by law (including authorities that regulate this Promotion).
  13. If for any reason this Promotion is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Promotion the Promoter reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion subject to approval of the gaming authorities in each State and Territory (where relevant). The Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, or may benefit from such tampering.
  14. The Promoter will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss), or for any personal injury suffered or sustained as a result of entering this Promotion or receiving, taking or using any prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  15. Except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law the Promoter:
    1. is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on line systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof, including (but not limited to) any injury or damage to participants or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating in this Promotion;
    2. accepts no responsibility for any incorrect or inaccurate information caused by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilised in connection with this Promotion, or by any technical error that may occur in the course of this Promotion, including (but not limited to) any failure of the computer system or other equipment to determine winners in accordance with these Conditions of Entry; and
    3. accepts no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to or alteration of entries or entrant's details.
  16. The prizes are not transferable and cannot be taken in part or redeemed in cash.
