1. Subject to paragraph 2, membership of Borders Preferred program is subject to payment of a non-refundable annual joining fee of $20.30 per card (inclusive of 7% GST) and submission of a completed application form, in store or online at www.borders.com.sg.
2. Applications for Borders Preferred membership for persons aged 20 years or below must be authorised by a parent or guardian of the named applicant.
3. Each member of Borders Preferred program (a "Member") shall be issued with a Borders Preferred Card which shall be valid from the date that membership application and payment of the joining fee was received until the end of the same month of the following year. For example, if application and payment of the joining fee was received by Borders on 9 September 2008, the Borders Preferred Card (and correpsonding Borders Preferred membership) shall be valid until 30 September 2009.
4. Borders Preferred Card entitles the Member to a discount of 10% off the advertised and/or promotional purchase price ("Borders Preferred discount") of all store products (including books, magazines, audio books, board games, PC games, toys, calendars, Paperchase and Borders bistro) purchased at Borders Singapore during the valid period stated on the card except newspapers, multimedia products and accessories (including CDs, DVDs, VCDs), electronic gift cards, gift vouchers, deposits and Borders Preferred Cards.
5. Subject to paragraph 6, Borders Preferred discount is valid in conjunction with Borders in-store offers and promotions.
6. Unless otherwise stated, the Borders Preferred discount does not apply:
   1. to the Singapore Shortlist coupons;
   2. during storewide and/ or anniversary discounts;
   3. to the purchase of any product which is advertised as a "Preferred Members Special Buy" and/ or for which there is a different price for Preferred Members and customers who are not Preferred Members; or
   4. in conjunction with Business & Education account or employee discounts
7. Neither the Borders Preferred Card nor the Borders Preferred discount is redeemable for cash.
8. To receive the Borders Preferred discount, the Member must present their Borders Preferred Card at the point of purchase.
9. Borders Preferred membership is intended for individual and/or personal use and is strictly non-transferable and the Borders Preferred Card may only be used by the individual Member whose signature is on the card for the Member's personal benefit. Borders may request proper identification with regard to Borders Preferred transactions. Member benefits will not be applied retroactively to any prior purchases.
10. Borders Preferred discount is valid for use in Borders Singapore store(s) only, and not valid for any store or online purchases through any other Borders international stores or online affiliates.
11. Borders reserves the right to:
    1. amend the Borders Preferred discount privileges and these terms and conditions, and
    2. decline the renewal of any Borders Preferred membership without prior notice at the sole discretion of Borders Pte Ltd.
12. Borders reserves the right to withdraw, suspend or terminate any Borders Preferred Cards and Borders Preferred membership, and refuse any re-issue or replacement of any Borders Preferred Cards on reasonable grounds. Reasonable grounds shall include:
    1. any abuse or attempted abuse of the Borders Preferred membership scheme, or
    2. any use or attempted use of a Borders Preferred card otherwise than in accordance with these terms and conditions, or
    3. any reasonable suspicion of dishonesty on the part of the Member in connection with the Borders Preferred membership scheme. In the event that Borders withdraws, suspends or terminates any Borders Preferred Card or Borders Preferred membership, or refuses to issue, re-issue or replace any Borders Preferred Card on any other grounds, the Member shall be entitled to a refund of a pro rata amount of the joining fee paid for the unexpired term of the Borders Preferred Card.

14. For lost or stolen cards, change of personal particulars, enquiries or more information, please call Borders Preferred Member Services Department at 6235-7146 during office hours, email ccsin@bordersgroupinc.com or visit www.borders.com.sg. A fee of $5.35 (inclusive of 7% GST) will apply for each replacement card.
15. Member shall be responsible for maintaining accurate and updated personal information with the Borders Preferred Member Services Department (contact details above).
16. MEMBER PRIVACY. By becoming a Member of Borders Preferred Program, you agree to receive Borders Singapore e-newsletter ‘The Shortlist’, advertising, marketing materials, and other communications from Borders, and their affi liates. Your personal information will be held in accordance with the Borders Privacy Policy, which can be found at http://email.borders.com.au/sg/privacy_sg.html
